About Stockholm Vatten
Stockholm Vatten (the Stockholm Water Company) produces and delivers drinking water of high quality to more than one million people in Stockholm.
We also treat and purify wastewater to ensure that the aquatic environment is protected. The company owns and maintains 5,300 km of water and sewer systems.
Organization
Stockholm Vatten is municipally owned and is organised in a parent company and two subsidiaries, with Gösta Lindh as Managing Director. One of the subsidiaries runs the operations of water and wastewater treatment while the other runs the business operations within the water and wastewater area; biogas is one of these. The company’s operations are wholly financed by water and sewerage rates and charges.
Holistic policy and eco-cycle concept
The company’s responsibilities cover the water on its way from the water source to the customers and then eventually as purified wastewater discharged into the Baltic Sea. Our eco-cycle concept involves resource recycling where waste products are recycled into usable new resources in a sustainable society.
